As we enter 2014 politicians and media men are set to indulge in presentation of their truths of the First World War so much so that already I am pulled in by Sunday newspaper articles and the gibbering of a current government minister to reflect on the validity of the forthcoming hysteria. The bright young man obeyed the call only to meet his death at the age of 19 as did millions who were ordered to 'go over the top'.
