under painting...

A cloudy, misty day out there...so i'm hanging out in the office/studio, which i love to do! started another painting...this is the under painting done in water colour, and of course the final painting will look nothing like this. believe it or not, the foreground is going to be snow!!! i haven't tackled snow yet, but looking at other good painters, they start with a darker, warmer tone under the snow! we'll see how that goes!

i love slopping on the under painting....cos it's not the 'real' painting, and it breaks up that often intimidating pristine white paper! actually in this case i'm using nice cheap sand paper from the hardware store, 320 grit....this does nicely for smaller studies.....i don't feel so precious about it - some of the good pastel papers are pretty pricey and i tend to feel less loose!

An early blip, cos i have to let the paint dry now, and we're off to Sydney this afternoon, shopping, chores and of course dinner out....mmmmm, i feel Chinese coming on !
