Rossy
Meet Rossy. My lovely Grandmother knit Rossy for me many years ago. In the 1970's. He's called Rossy because the goal keeper for Carlisle United at the time was Allan Ross and I think he was the only player my grandmother knew.
This knitted toy was in a womens magazine and I am unable to find the pattern as I would like to replicate the toy. Granny didn't quite get the face right she knew this but I am not going to unpick it. It's part of Rossy.
He has his own football strip which includes, shirt, shorts, socks and boots the stripes and studs on the boots are knitted too. Granny adapted the pattern to be Carlisle United colours and even put on the little red fox emblem.
Such a good job was made of this toy and I was delighted when she made it. She was so pleased with it herself it stayed with her for years and saw 4 house moves before she conceded and allowed me to take him.
He sits in our sitting room but he would like a playmate. If anyone can help and knows where I may find this exact pattern I would be grateful. There are many patterns out there I know but this is the one I want.
