Cutty Sark, Greenwich

Spent the day in Blackheath and Greenwich. Went up to Blackheath village in the morning and had a look around the "village" before having lunch at Cafe Rouge.

In the afternoon we drove over to Maze Hill, parking the car and walking through Greenwich Park down into Greenwich and the river front.

A great view of the National Maritime Museum and Canary Wharf from the Observatory. A good walk down to the Thames and through the University of Greenwich and along the river to the Cutty Sark. The vessel has been completely restored following the disastrous fire a few years ago. I wasn't sure about the glass structure around the ship but I think it is meant to represent the sea and in fact does a pretty good job.

The University of Greenwich buildings are fabulous and new attractions have been added since last time I'd been there. A new heritage centre has opened and the painted room and chapel is well worth a visit.

Having worked in Greenwich for 11 years I got to know the area well and always like going back to places like the University and the Observatory where I used to go when working.
