Oh for a paddle

I love this little watercolour by J H Dowd, painted in 1930. It reminds me of family beach holidays, and on a grim mid-winter day of leaden sky and depressing drizzle, it is a reminder that summer is on the way ... eventually.

Seasons are wonderful, I wouldn't want to live in a part of the world that has the same climate all year. It is recalling days like today that makes an English summer afternoon all the sweeter.
