Superhero

Went to the pictures today (NB Cultural note for those not in Scotland 'the pictures' = cinema). One of the few hardships of island life is that we don't get movies until about 3 months after release. But at least they do turn up eventually. Actually it makes going to the pictures more of an event as they are only here for a short time and you have to go rather than pick your moment.

So, this weekend it was Spiderman 3. I enjoyed the film, some flat bits and I could do without MJ being a pain in the butt throughout the film (will Hollywood ever have the guts to do a superhero film without a love interest??)and the boys complained that Venom wasn't quite right. But apart from that it was pretty good.

But to be honest I've always been a Batman girl, Spidey's a bit too much of a wimp. Been a fan of the dark knight since my brother and I used to go and blow all our pocket money on comics every Saturday. We graduated from DC and Marvel to 2000AD and from there to a whole world of graphic novels that we still exchange. I bought him this one for his birthday. Haven't had a look at it yet but he said it was excellent.
