Outer Archway, Linlithgow Palace, Scotland
The Palace was built by James I in 1424, as a grand residence for Scottish royalty. James V, born here in April 1512, added this elaborate outer archway.
Mary Queen of Scots was born here in December 1542.
After the Union of the Crowns in 1603, James VI moved the Royal Court to London, and the Palace fell into disuse.
Visiting Linlithgow today for a family celebration. Good to meet up with relatives and friends from many parts of the country.
