Reflections

It's been another wet and gloomy day, but at least the library's lights made the wet tarmac look a little less dull.

Today I've struggled to find anyone willing to repair a 7-year-old cooker. The main issue is that it's a gas cooker, requiring a 'gas safe' engineer to repair it. A national home appliance repair service did give me a quote, but it was pretty hefty and given in the kind of tone that implied that it would cost more when more faults were discovered. Time to cut our losses and shop for a new one - which will also involve a visit (and a bill) from a 'gas safe' engineer to install it. If I decided to cut costs and switch to electric (which I don't want to do and won't, in fact, be doing), that option would also involve a visit (and a bill) from a 'gas safe' engineer to cap the gas supply :-(
