The opening lines of the first song in The Drowsy Chaperone, sung by my character, Mrs Tottendale.

It's just before this point on opening nights when I also wonder just why I am again in costume, ready to deliver a performance to a what is on this occasion a pleasingly full house.

Then the music starts, and I know exactly why!
