First Audition
I'm back-blipping because I am a little behind and I haven't been taking many pictures during the dark months.
On this day, my girl and friends from her studio auditioned for parts in the Nutcracker. It is a professional production with the professional dancers coming from another city and children from our areas filling roles such as "baby mice" and "party guests."
My girl tried out for a role that was designated for girls a bit older. She was the only girl from her studio not to get that part. She was so upset. I was so proud when she got back in the saddle and tried out for two more roles. She was cast as an "angel," which was set aside for her age group and as part of the "dragon," one of those Chinese lion dances. The dragon girls were much older, but they had enough parts and thought she could do it.
Looking back, it was really turned out to be good as the timing for the rehearsals for the parts she got was much more convenient. The actual production was pretty spectacular. The professional dancers were awesome.
I hope the memory of this audition day turns out to be a good one. The idea that you keep going, even after disappointment, is one I hope she internalizes.
