This fledgling song thrush doesn't know how to pick the fruit yet, but he certainly knows what to do with any he comes across. No harm in having a wee feast while Mum hunts for worms and cracks snail shells for him. Turdus philomelos.

This morning's early temperature was 4ºC, so no frost. For most of the week the morning temperature has been 5º or below, except for Thursday, when it was 18.5ºC. There's no half measures here.

My son's holiday is drawing to an end. Today he worked very hard to do or finish jobs in the garden that are beyond me now. As I couldn't relax while he worked I am feeling weary too. We got a lot done.
