Storm Birds

I was continually being woken last night by rain and hail being lashed against the window by gusts of gale force winds. In my dreams it turned into the sounds of a Banshee trying to get in-scary.

By morning another 40mm of rain had fallen onto the already saturated ground causing flooding and road closures throughout the Island. These conditions continued well into the afternoon.

Eventually the rain relented a little and with an eerie watery light appearing over the Solent I managed to get just one shot of these gulls against the black sky.

I know this image is not technically perfect but to me it summed up the apocalyptic mood of this dismal Winter day.
