Cheeky Chaffinch!

Not a brilliantly sharp shot, but they're really quick birds, so it didn't hang around that long for me to grab a shot. This is a spot where food is put out for the small birds, right next to a cafe at the far end of the lake. The ducks get a free feed too as some of the seeds and nuts get flirted off the wooden fence posts!

It was lovely to see this chaffinch with such fine plumage - it's getting to that time of year when you have to look your best in the bird/animal kingdom.

The herons further down the lake are also gathering and arguing over their particular nesting spot high in the tree tops.

I fee a little sorry for the little egret, as it's all alone, so I'm not sure if it will stay around for much longer.
