You're too early!

A large patch of primroses is in full flower on one of woodland banks at the nature reserve although it was looking a bit bedraggled today after more rain. It is really quite mild - 8-9 degrees C today - and we'll be seeing more extremely early spring flowering if we don't get a cold spell soon. I'm not so worried about the plants that might get caught out - they will recover. However, some animals, especially insects, that need to hibernate through the winter risk not not being able to get into deep hibernation and will be exposed to fugal attack and other diseases. Please let's have some frost and ice soon!
