"Just A Few Roses"...

...Today, on a cooler day for us after the heat we've been experiencing for the last few days...and we ventured into the garden to see what had been affected by the heat of the noon-day sun..

...We've done a lot of planting over the last not 3yrs, and lost some here and there last summer, so hardy plants it is now in our garden..the maiden hair ferns, and all those - went in the bin, (our friends and neighbours here have heaps) and replaced by cacti and other heat loving plants, like portulaca, which are good because they will seed in the same place if you let them..all ready for the next year - and ofcourse they are flourishing..

...We haven't even been shopping for about a week, but that's no problem - we've just had other chores to do apart from shopping -I hate shopping even though we have some super shops here -we may go out for lunch tomorrow to one of our favorite places..and there are many...

...But in the meantime - the roses John had to de-head this a.m. a bucket full of lovely roses all burnt but - here are a couple of survivors - the beautiful Double Delight which certainly got a hiding with the sun, and instead of burning - it bleached to a different color.. You will see on 31st Dec. where I posted the true color, and in this blip - it's something else - but so lovely to have another lovely colored rose in the patch..!! There were even roses which were like brown paper on the bushes, immortalized almost..

The other rose - hasn't fully opened yet -it's unnamed but we called it "14th of Feb" as John bought it for me on that date a few years ago, highly fragrant as well, it came from a Garage of all places, the old owner was selling them and didn't have a clue what it was either..
