Beck scrambling

So, day 1 of the adventure that is Outward Bound. First up, beck scrambling. I had been dreading this activity, a dodgy back combined with slippery wet rocks is the stuff of nightmares! The river was running too fast for the kids to try the usual activities of fording it and then sliding down an enormous boulder known as the Looney Leap into the freezing water. They did get to clamber over countless boulders and squeeze themselves through tiny gaps and wade at the side enough to fill their wellies! They had a ball!
Meanwhile, their pathetic TA almost wept with relief when she finally got to the top of a stupidly steep and muddy hill by way of grabbing tree roots and saplings and the terrifying experience was over!
