Tread carefully

Possibly the last picture I take of Street Corner Society with my friend the 550d.

Stupidly, I dropped my camera this afternoon. There were swear words, tears, some more swear words. The air was blue. Blue and moist.

I'm usually so careful, but I left it balancing on something while I did 101 other things first (I'd just got back from doing my first interview for the THRIVE study I'm working on and was busy sorting stuff). There was a sickening thwack and then just deadness.

Oh well, we had two years of togetherness my little 550d buddy. R.I.P. (Not sure whether it's repairable - will see).

On the bright side this could give me an excuse to upgrade. On the downside this won't be any time soon. I am about to pay a princely sum for new life to be breathed into my clapped-out car and then there was the small matter of buying a flat six months ago. And much stuff from John Lewis.

We'll see how I get on with the little lumix for the time being.

The interview was good though! I'm interviewing galore the next few weeks and will also be doing some participant observation - should be interesting. Perhaps this is the God of research's way of telling me I have no time to take photos.
