Bumps in the Road

A bite to eat before take off

We had an early start down at the docks this morning, jump-starting the car after last night's flat battery. It was quickly followed by a lovely brunch at 'In a Pickle' (Gooma's place of work) before we headed down to South Bank to meet Nikki's friend Rachel and have a play in the water fountains with the wee man.

Grandma and I returned home to pack our bags and cart the wee man's new toy and book collection back to Britain. Who would have thought that packing could be so tiring?

In the evening, on the way to the airport, we called in at 'Simply Duo' to share a meal with the extended family. The wee man was in fine form, collecting cuddles from all his auntys, uncles and cousins. I can't quite believe how much the wee man is eating these days. He's sure to have put on weight when we finally get round to measuring him again.

And then it was off to the airport and a near tearful goodbye to Nikki and my son. I'll see them both again in a couple of weeks but that seems like an awful long time at the moment. I'm certainly going to miss them.

In other, rather unfortunate news, the mosquito bites that Grandma received last night turned sour. Swelling into small welts, her legs are covered in them. Luckily we called in at the Pharmacy to stock up on extra dressings and antihistamines so hopefully we'll keep them at bay until we land back in Edinburgh. It almost feels like the mosquitoes are driving us back to Britain. Little buggers!
