Longest day of the year
It's official. Today was the longest day of the year for me and Grandma. Beginning somewhere above Ayers Rock, we travelled across the equator (stopping off in Kuala Lumpur), flew across Asia and Europe to London, followed by a quick flight up to Edinburgh and a car drive down to Lincoln (well, the border was all we made before midnight). All in all the 18th of January was 34 hours long for us!
Unfortunately Grandma's bites blistered up into welts again so while we were in Kuala Lumpur we called in at the Puswari to change the dressings and receive more antibiotics.
By all accounts the wee man had a pretty mellow day with his mum, which was sorely needed for both of them. They played at home in the morning and then went for a quick walk to the park and played on the swings and slide for about half hour. After a mid afternoon nap they went to see GGMa (Great Grandma) at the nursing home. It was there that he discovered a new favourite game - playing chase with his Gooma. In a flash, he would crawl outside of GGMa's room, only momentarily stopping to grin and giggle at Mum and Gooma. This was the sign for Gooma to say in a mock serious voice, 'Where are you going young man?!' and he would chuckle with glee and make his dash while Gooma chased after him.
I couldn't help thinking how Nikki and the wee man would cope with the flight I took with my mother. In just two weeks they'll be tracing our steps. Every step of the way I was exploring ways that Nikki could work with our boy and make the most of child facilities.
