corrugated carmine

A crimson band marked the coming of dawn. The sky was still dark but for this thin luminous sliver of light. I settled to watch as the clouds were flooded with colour. A low gold band ran the length of the horizon and above it the clouds were folded over and over like corrugations of carmine red.
