best friends

The white girlie is a shy little Italian chick, her best friend a Black something that I can't quite remember. They are always together - v sweet.
When we first moved here there were a selection of small chooks who weren't really buying into the 'laying of the egg business'. They were given plenty of time, lots of encouragement and they ignored the advise. It was a tragic end for them all. It can be tough living here!
But now 10 big healthy chickens are roaming a new enclosure (well 9 - one flew off on day one, last seen 30 feet up on the roof of the district heating system, not a good omen apparently for showing signs of settling in). The eggs are being laid, the girls are settled and the allotments are a better place for having chickens back again :0)
