Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

Just a bit of seal play.

A few of the common seals that hang around at the mouth of the estuary were engaged in some erotic looking behaviour this afternoon. Lots of rolling around in the water, gentle biting and intertwining of bodies and flippers. It might look erotic but at this time of the year it has nothing to do with mating, which takes place in June to August. What we are seeing is playful behaviour between immature animals.
