Ay Waukin', O
It's that time of year when we celebrate the life of our national Bard, Robert Burns (1759-1796). Haggis, Neeps and Tatties on the table, and some songs and poems. Here is another of my favourites, learnt in primary school. A link to Eddi Reader singing it here.
Burns' birthdate is tomorrow, 25 January, but I have something else planned for my Blip entry then.
There is a programme on Sat 25 Jan, BBC2, 10.30 pm, of the Glasgow Burns' Celebration at the New Hydro Building. Definitely worth a watch.
I was called an angel today, kissed and hugged by a stranger. Found a Christian Dior handbag in a shopping trolley. Looked around, no one about. Handed it in to the Customer Services in the store, and a few minutes later, a very distressed lady appeared. So glad it was quickly reunited with the owner.
This evening, a farewell party for a friend from Poland, who has been studying here for six months. We played a couple of games, including writing Scotland down one side of the page, and then reversing the word. We had two minutes to fill the gap, making up words, of at least 4 letters, no proper nouns. Like this, so my first word was "SOUND". A bit of fun, have a go. A ending in O, and N ending in C were a challenge.
