Fooded fields at Ibsley
I still can't drive after injuring my shoulder just after Christmas which is partly why I haven't uploaded many photos this month. That and a decision to try and take fewer photos but concentrate on quality rather than be tied to one a day.
This morning I went to Ibsley near Fordingbridge with Gill and Terry, the meadows here flood every year but they are particularly bad this year as you might expect. We watched a Bewick's Swan and a greater Egret which is a new bird for me. There were also Redpolls on the feeders in the nearby Bashley Lake reserve including a Mealy Redpoll which is apparently quite rare, I have never even heard of it but I have now seen one.
This is a photo of the water meadows by the River Avon, it is hard to tell where the river ends and the fields start bu I am sure this is true of lots of places around the country today. At least there are no houses on this flood plain.
