Up close and personal

Son running in the Northern Cross Country Championships - a muddy affair. Held at Knowsley Safari Park. We took a ride around the park (£5 per car for runners!) - graceful deer, buffalo hunched in the rain, stunning tigers and baboons climbing over the car.

But it was the lions that will stick in my memory. One lioness in particular was enormous. We were within touching distance so often. At one point around ten of them roamed around our car, even rubbing up against it and rocking it slightly! An incredible experience. I've never been so up close and personal!.

This photo was taken through my car window, without a zoom and on my phone. So quite pleased.
