Blackbird singing in the depths of winter ..

In Preston today for a day’s examining. I crossed Winckley Square early this morning and saw this blackbird (Turdus merula), other than pigeons the only bird I could see anywhere in the Square. Another day of very poor light; how I miss the Patagonian summer, with abundant sun and birds on tap.
