In the mood for a moody portrait?
Just after we got home from the hockey yesterday we had quite a storm with high winds, rain and hail. This morning we noticed quite a few trees were down and blocking roads around us, but thankfully by late morning they had been removed so that the roads were clear once again.
Luke got back this morning from an 18th birthday party he went to last night (they stay over, safer than drinking and trying to get home again) feeling tired and looking a little worn out so I thought it was an excellent time to try and take some moody portraits - the unflattering ones that show the dark rings under the eyes and lack of sparkle in the eyes! He was too tired to protest and sat patiently for me while I experimented with different lighting sets ups, starting with rim lighting and then just doing whatever I thought looked good. So here we have the moody portrait of a not-in-the-mood teenager! (Not to be tried on a tired daughter, too unflattering for a young woman)
By coincidence Adam also went to a party last night, albeit a 17th birthday and he also stayed over with a friend in London last night as the last train home was too early for him to get home. They do not go very often and work so hard at other times that I think a party every now and again is not a bad thing. But I did have two very hungry teenagers for lunch today!
The Duck House on Friday night was excellent - laugh out loud comedy that never got silly, with some very witty lines. Ben Miller was excellent as usual, and there were some scenes where he had to try really hard to stop himself from laughing on stage. I never realised just how funny the expenses scandal was!
