Crested China 4 - Goudhurst, Kent
Spent half the day in bed today as I have a flu like virus with a dry cough and ache all over so going out was not on the cards and the weather did not improve until later in the afternoon.
Goudhurst lies in the heart of the Weald of Kent in well wooded and hilly country. It has been a centre for growing fruit and hops for a long time. The area was also notorious in the 17th and 18th Centuries for smuggling. I am not aware that Goudhurst has a true Coat Of Arms. This one includes the rampant horse with the motto Invicta which means undefeated and is the Arms of the County of Kent. The barrel at the top probably represents brewing and hop production while the wheatsheaf is likely I would think to represent the agricultural wealth of the area.
