Sigi's Birthday Party
Took to the road today, driving the 170km up to Geisenfeld near Ingolstadt, about 70km north of Munich for Angie's elder (but not eldest) sister's birthday party. Took the risk with the jeep as the dogs came along and above all Flash likes to seek retreat in it - he loves people but not parties! The jeep literally died at the front door and I managed to roll back downhill to park on the street, no mean feat without servo!
After coffee and cake, hubby Gerhard put three "Leberkäs" (translated literally as Liver Cheese but which contains no cheese and in Bavaria, by law, no liver - rest of Germany it has to contain 4-5% liver) in the oven and I took the dogs for a walk in the nearby forest enjoying a lovely sunset even if cool (+1°C). We got a bit lost on a path signposted as a circular route as it was everything but. Our quick walk turned in to a good long walk and we arrived back as the food was ready.
Following this, the traditional "The food was a bit fatty, think we need a schnapps". On the photo Ramona pouring out a round - note that everybodys eyes are on the glasses! I didn't, I was driving, well hopefully.
As always a great time, fabulous hosts and we were too late leaving. Luna had a good run around in the garden with a very young Jack Russel and yawned as we loaded her in the car which started as normal but acted very strangely most of the way home.
We made a quick stop just south of Munich, leaving the motor running but it died! Thought it would mean an hours wait as it always starts when the motor is cold. However after a few minutes tried a start and it sprang to life. So got home without any problems and even touched 200kmh on one stretch when the turbo/injectors were kind enough to work.
Snowed most of the day but just very lightly, the side streets were very icy this evening but the autobahn was being well gritted - good thing at 120mph.
Another weekend done and now 5 days to recharge the batteries. Have a good break everyone.
