The land of hospitals

I would just like to take a minute and say that I am very glad that I chose the profession that I did. Sometimes, like today, I was starting to feel really discouraged because I was thinking that I am never going to find an area that fits me well. For example, I like the ICU sometimes and can picture myself there, and other times I think of it as a black hole of doom where I can't escape. I just want to practice medicine. I enjoy the science of it a lot as well as the human interaction of it all. However it is hard at this stage to really get your hopes up about the job you are going to get, because who knows what is really out there. I'm trying to be patient and not anxious, but it's just hard sometimes, I am so ready for this to be over, but I have 5 more months to go still. This is my practice in patience!
Tomorrow is my last day in the PICU and I am blown away at how quickly this rotation went by. It must have been the Cush schedule but man this one was fast. I'm not complaining at all, it's one step closer to the finish line. All today consisted of was rounding for an eternity and a visit to the pre-op clinic for my colonoscopy next month. Fun fun.
