Musings of a Mortal

The legend that was...Jim Baxter

Whilst travelling thru the former mining village of Hill o'Beath, I came across this statue of the footballing legend that was Jim Baxter.

Jim played for a number of clubs but came to prominence when he played for Glasgow Rangers (yes yes He had a good grounding at Raith!!) - gifted and talented he was remembered for a number of things and one of the most famous was when he played for Scotland when they took on the then World Champions, England in their own back yard and famously beat them 3-2 (we then became the unofficial World Champions.....still are!!).

Unfortunately the drink took its toll on his health and sadly he passed away in 2001 at the age of 61.

He will be fondly remembered by many......
