Les mignons. Les Minions

With Emilio's 5th birthday just a fraction over 2 weeks away, the party invitations need to go out. This evening, after much hilarity searching images and videos and games of the adorable 'Despicable Me' creatures with my very own 'mignons', the birthday boy decided he didn't want the invitations I found pre prepared online, he wanted daddy to create them.

I have done this for both children every birthday so far, so it's not a huge ask to do it this time.

There is a devilish beauty to Illumination Entertainment's little yellow creations: From their language to their humour, their gestures to their facial expressions, and from their expressed emotions to the ones they make you feel throughout the two movies, the Minions inspire, amuse and draw you in. They are loveable, gentle, fragile, sensitive, resilient and completely enchanting.

Parents will recognise all of those traits in their own children: I see them in mine all the time. Sometimes, I don't even see them, I just feel them.

As I close my eyes in a moment and prepare for the alarm in 3 hours (flight at 6.25 to Dublin) I shall picture my children's laughter just a few hours ago as we created their own Minions online and then named them Stuart and Emionio: They loved doing that. And I love the joy it bought to their faces.

Signing off now. More tomorrow.

Poopeye.
