Day 9: Levada Walk
Up early this morning to go on a levada walk with my uncle. It was along the South West of the island, where I've not been before and it was beautiful. I should have taken more photos along the walk itself but sometimes the photos don't do the views justice.
We were a small group of just 8 people which was nice and there was fruit to try, herbs to smell and some scarily narrow ledges and steep drops. And a stone wall that was alive with small lizards, all scattering as we passed.
Then on the way back, the guide dropped us in Porto do Sol, reputed to be the warmest spot on the island, which we could well believe - and it was gorgeous. Small, but with beautiful Colonial architecture and surrounded by cliffs with banana plants clinging on.
Then, a late lunch with the others and time to soak up some more sunshine.
