Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

PJ got a call late this afternoon to go and make sure the landing area was clear for the helicopter to land in, just up the road from our place. They called him because he is the Fire Chief of our Rural Fire Force crew.
They had been called out, as a chap had fallen off his mountain bike and hit his head & had a big gash in it. Turned out it was more blood than anything, but they took him out to the Hospital to get him checked out.
The Westpac & Summit Rescue helicopters are a life-line for the Sounds and other remoter areas in Marlborough. We are lucky were we live, as it is about the same amount of time to get a helicopter sent from either Wellington or Nelson. It can take about 1/2 an hour to an hour to get into here, depending on if the crews are on the spot or got to be called out.
I had taken the dogs for a walk on the beach, and I got this shot as they headed back out.
