Kipper Cabin

Tree slice decoupage

I'm a sucker for this stuff, particularly those with cowboy scenes. I'm fond of fleeting ducks, too. And the dogs are to die for.

All the neighbours had these pegged up on their walls when I was a kid growing up on the Prairies ... except us. We had Queen Victoria with Princess Alice in the front hall, and Winston Churchill in the kitchen. The Moulin Rouge was in the sitting room. In proper frames, mind, not glued to bits of tree trunk. (we were deprived children)

I come across these from time to time when I'm hunting down old paint by numbers in the junk shops. I've set my brother up with quite a gallery at his cottage on The French. All cowboys and fish and deer. And some marvelous Indians!

I've convinced my sister to have someone slice up some of her fallen cherry tree. I told her we'll make a fortune. We will. A junk shop fortune.

("The Horsies of Houghton Lake, Michigan" has been hung outside on the deck for a bit too long)
