miserable

Attended a Community Midwives Association meeting in Athlone. The agenda was very depressing and the new rules are making it harder and harder for many midwives to practice. The health service does not want to employ community midwives but a small (and fairly vocal) proportion of women want to be able to homebirth. So we are 'put up with' but the squeeze is on. None of this of course would be acknowledged at the top, but its there alright.
This horrible sight is industrial scale peak bog removal . Cutting its scar through the land on a dank dreary day was just enough to make me officially miserable! Feet up and some TV was needed. Charlie Brooker and his excellent roving reporter, Philomena Cunk, put a smile on me for a while.
