Yum, yum deliciousness
Maple's first real ice lolly. She's had a couple of my homemade ones but this was the first she's had all to herself out and about. It's a love hate relationship. She really wants it but won't hold the stick and gets frozen, blue lips and hands. At first I wasn't giving her one as I knew it would end in tears. Oscar asked why and I told him that Maple gets blue lips from them. I should have used my noggin before making that statement as it sent him into a mood of deep concern. He did not want Maple to get blue lips. He did not want Maple to have an ice lolly. I reassured him and he came around to the idea. He's protective over his sisters already.
As predicted, the ice lolly ended in tears. Maple dropped the last part of it and was beside herself peering down at the smashed, orange popsicle on the concrete. Oh well, it was worth it to see the look of ecstasy on her face sucking and biting it.
We were a bit lost with what to do this weekend. Thank goodness a couple of friends have come to the rescue and invited us for playdates :-) We had the best time at some kiwi friends we haven't seen for ages (In fact so long she has had a baby in-between!) Another family with three children; there is always an instant knowing spark there. They have the most ginormous playground in their backyard. It really is spectacular and the trio had an absolute blast swinging, sliding, riding bikes and scooters (Maple too), and playing "Captain Pirate" outside.
