Spider in Winter
Were it not for the very mild Winter we've had to date (very mild and very wet!), it might be surprising to find so many spiders so active in my garden at the end of January. This isn't the sharpest image but it has been cropped and it a very small spider. It was very stationary and I think that extended long front leg is sitting on the alarm thread (I don't know the techie term, sorry!) that tells it when prey hits its web. I like the diagonal orientation of the photo and the presence of the spider shadow. I had to use a headtorch for illumination as the phone camera flash washed out that lovely shadow.
