Hornsey Road Baths & Laundry

I've always loved this neon sign in Hornsey Road, not far from me; in what I would regard as my 'patch' of London. A daylight photo doesn't really do it justice but I was walking past it today and decided it would be my blip for the day.

When the baths were built in 1895, they were the largest in the UK with four swimming pools, 125 slipper baths, a public washhouse and laundry. They were extensively damaged during the war, rebuilt in the '60s and finally closed in 1991.
After this the building lay derelict and squatted for a while but has now been converted into 212 homes, a nursery, community space and offices. The entrance, which I assume includes this sign, is listed so hopefully it will remain there for people to enjoy.

A sunny morning, spent indoors though as we had housing co-op management training but although it was greyer in the afternoon the rain still mostly held off. Interesting photography related talk this afternoon by Roger Dean - Esoteric London. Couldn't resist buying his recently published book.
