The crumbling Duke
What a treat the weather was today and looks as if we might have another couple of dry days before the rain returns on Wednesday.
Did a walk-through of the 'Marylebone Muses' walk that I'm planning to schedule toward the end of the month. A literary walk featuring Charles Dickens, Conan Doyle (and Sherlock Holmes, of course) and the Barrett-Brownings with cameo appearances by a few others. It's partly based on the exam walk we did for the City of Westminster Guiding course last year and takes in Cavendish Square which is where this statue of the Duke of Cumberland is.
The statue is made from soap (Lush, 'Honey I washed the kids', toffee scented and 100% vegetarian). It was installed as part of the City of Sculpture Festival organised to coincide with the Olympic Games in 2012 and was originally expected to remain for a year so it's well past its sell-by date now! I was surprised to find it still there.
