High and Dry(ish)

After another night of rain and gales my garden rain gauge showed that 30mm. of rain had fallen in the last 16 hours.

Passing along Brading Down I jumped out of the car into the teeth of a freezing gale where these hardy cows were heading through the saturated meadow to shelter amongst the trees.

The 'lake' in the middle ground which can be seen better in 'Large' is the normally 20 feet wide River Yarr which has overflowed into the water meadows, which is exactly how nature intended them to work. Fortunately this is a nature reserve with very few properties there to suffer flooding. More rain forecast in the next few days.
