La Folie Douce

Had a great wee lesson this morning. Only two of us turned up and we headed down to Le Brevieres on what was effectively a private lesson with Ludo. Really made a giant leap in my skiing that morning.

Quick bite and I met up with the lads and we decided to take Reidy off for a snow plough with the big boys. We just took our time on some long greens and some gentle blues, with Reidy playing a blinder and ended up in Le Daille when someone had the idea of taking the lift to La Folie Douce. It's hard to describe what this place is…. a sort of mental nightclub, on a mountain, during the day. The bubble arrives just under the bit behind us and the whole thing is shaking, the bass bins setting off the ski's vibrating. So up we gets and the place is a bit quiet (apart from the music) but the singer is wandering round and we have a laugh with her, DJ on the decks mixing and sax player wandering around the tables. We get a beer and soak up the mental atmosphere. I have to poke a hole in the head of the lager to get a drink as it's frozen solid. A few minutes later the dancers come out and take residence on the tables and the whole place kicks off proper with all these rich Eurotrash kids jiving away, throwing shapes (which I believe is the term…..) and punching the air. So we get a bottle of Moet….

An altogether bizarre experience, but totally unmissable.

Head back down the mountain on the Aeroski to Lavachet and get a few apres in at the pub before dinner. Great day.
