Le Grande Motte

Last day with the chaps so I decide to bin the lesson and go out for the day with them. Weather looking good so early breakfast and we are on the Aeroski just after 9. Gets up the top and have a leisurely wee ski down to Le Daille stopping for a coffee at Le Trifollet. Great views over to the mid station at La Fornet, so that's the plan.

Head down into Le Daille and get the bus through Val d'Isre to La Fornet. Hell of a quiet down that end and a couple of lifts and we are at the Col d'Iseran; a high mountain pass and Tour de France climb. We have a nice couple of hours playing about on fabulous snow, wide pistes and no crowds before heading down to Val d'Isre to have lunch. Nice burger and then onto the Olympique car and back up the hill. Gordon feeling a bit injured, after having a spill, heads back to Tignes and Chris, Niall, Dougie, Brian and I head down Piste H to Val Claret, plan is to get up the Grande Motte. At Val Claret Chris bails and gets the bus back to Tignes. We get up the funicular and Niall decides to ski down rather than get the cable car to the summit, so Dougie, Brian and I head up. Brian has a bit of mare as the wind starts rocking the car which is the size of a single decker but we gets to the summit and the views are just stunning. A good few photos later and we are bombing down a couple of reds to get us back to Val Claret on the middle right there. The total descent is a 100 or so metres lower than the height of Ben Nevis. Last two runs of the trip, two of the most challenging I've done on the trip. I am now burst, we have covered a lot of miles today, but you'd need to dynamite the smiles aff our faces. Back to the chalet to pack and eat a fine raclette from Laura, nobody is moving too far tonight, early to bed and off the Chamberry for the flight home. A quite fabulous week in the alps. Cheers boys.
