Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

The Guest Room

Late this afternoon I wandered into our guest bedroom, the corner room, on the opposite end of the upstairs from our master bedroom. The afternoon light was flooding the room. It shone through the louvers on the window coverings to splash across the painting, "Finishing Touches" that hangs there waiting for guests to arrive, to occupy the room.

The guest room also faces south to the view of our city, as does our room. The deck that stretches the length of the back of the house is just outside one of the corner windows.

The two of us love that room. We sleep in there considerably more than anyone would guess. It takes the place of going away to a resort, an inn, or a hotel. It's much smaller than our bedroom, and it used to have the queen-size bed in it that we now sleep on in our room. So that room was nick-named the "Queen Room."

Even though it is smaller than our room, something about it feels so comfy, so lovely. In the summer months when the windows are open we can hear the song of the fountain below the side window . . . that adds a magic all of its own.

So when we need a resort moment--a little bit of magic, but time is not in our schedule to runaway nor extra money in the account, we wander over to the "Queen Room" and enjoy the magic of being away while being home.

So welcome to our guest room. Good night from Southern California where we are on the eve of a Blip birthday and haven't the foggiest idea what to blip.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol

P.S. The painting is by Carrie Graber. We both really like her art. Her daddy went to high school with Mr. Fun, and he is now a recently retired high school art teacher. He and Carrie's mom live across the street from our daughter.
