Here come the girls!

Sun shining again today, no service to ring for so we headed off to Tring Park. We have walked through the edge of it several times on other walks we have done but not walked in and around it. Access to it from Tring town centre includes a footbridge over the A41 dual carriageway.

Tring Park refers the open Parkland of the original estate of Tring Mansion, now Tring Park School of Performing Art.

The Parkland sits south of the A41, which was opened in 1975 to bypass Tring and split the Park from the Mansion. It is a public open space, owned by Dacorum Borough Council and managed by the Woodland Trust. About half of the estate is undulating grassland, grazed by these lovely cattle.

To the east and south of the park are the wooded Chiltern escarpments, in which there are former carriage rides. One of these, the King's Ride, forms part of the Ridgeway National Trail.

It was surprisingly firm underfoot in most places and with the sun shining there were lots of folks out walking their dogs in the grassland part, but a stiff climb up to the ridge sorts the men from the boys and it was very quiet up there :)
