Deep roots and strong wings

A beautiful , hopeful, sunny February day, a contrast to the cold or wet weather we seemed to have had almost everyday for weeks. Today, I walked without a damp woolly hat pulled over my flattened hair!

As my friend and I chatted with two of my children, we walked past these roots. I have admired them many times before. I love their tangled patterns and the strength they provide for the huge trunks they support, even on a slope.

I ponder the challenge of parenthood to simultaneously provide both deep roots deep and strong wings.
