What's keeping you?

Flo loves to be on top. A case of small dog syndrome I think. She likes to park herself on the highest possible part of the sofa (the backrest), and if at all possible, will lie on something on top of the back rest to get a little extra boost. And when we are out walking she will always dash to the top of a hill or a set of steps ahead of me, staring back with a challenging glint in her eye.

Dog trainers will tell you that this is a sign of a dog making a bid for dominance. Maybe if I had a Rottweiller I would be concerned, but such a trait in a mild mannered, cheerful terrier just makes me chuckle.
