Pussy galore!

Just look what the cat neighbour brought in yesterday - the most beautiful little snow-white puss, with the faintest tinge of ginger around the ears and tail, and pink pads to her feet. Found, terrified, up a tree on the corner of our road with one of the busiest thoroughfares in Copacabana. The dear girl who brought her to our door had tried everyone else she could think of, and has even found a friend who says he will take her, but he only returns to Rio on the 16th. So, ignoring a firm "NO" from HH, I we simply had to take her in. Young Julia then took her off to the cat salon for a bath (don't think she had a manicure and pedicure, must check), and came back with a cushion, smart steel bowl and a pack of cat biscuits to keep her going.

Then, how to face our two cats, singularly unimpressed by the intrusion, so she spent yesterday in our bathroom. After hiding behind the loo for a while, I gradually managed to win her confidence and she ventured forth. Next time I went in to see her, she was up on the counter, curled up in a corner, and finally she found the courage to go out onto the verandah and sit up on the wall. Today she has the run of our bedroom and bathroom, but has spent the whole time hiding under a cupboard.

Our daughters have decreed that she should be called Fifi (which is what they call me - not sure if it's a compliment or an insult), and I think she's going to be Fificat, at least for now.

Needless to say, work didn't progress very fast yesterday, but I did manage to do some, and we got out for a walk along the sea front in the evening - pleasantly cool, compared to recent days and nights.
