SEED-PITTED-PLAQUE-IN-PROGRESS

This second trial was a success.

This was fired in the log-burner last night with wood shavings in my saggar tin.
As expected, the silver birch catkins charred and fell out in one piece. Remnants of the coriander seeds remain in some cases and will be picked out with tweezers later.

The previous night the other smaller example failed because as well as leaving the catkins to char I'd left the whole coriander seeds to char. Well it should not surprise anyone who has tried to roast coriander seeds in a pan, these little balls of scent are explosive. It was too much for the clay to handle.

We live and we learn...and then we forget what we learnt so we learn it again!
