Normal Service is resumed.
After office days & depressed days, it was back out into the hills today. The forecast was for this to be the best day of the week, but as we parked at Greenside Mines it was 'full waterproofs required'.
We made our way up towards Catsycam, the rain stinging and what little snow there was being treacherous underfoot, but by the time we reached Red Tarn we could already see it clearing.
Whilst we got patches of blue sky and occasional glimpses of a strange glowing ball in the sky, I soon realised that today's picture should be grabbed before the window shut.
Sometimes this is less easy than you might think. Gloves need to be taken off, hands exposed to winters bite, balance achieved so rucksacks can be nonchalantly swung over shoulders, all whilst concentrating on keeping hold of an axe & keeping crampon points out of a leg.
And then the sun comes out. Overall I still like this though, it sums up the day well, gives you the viewer a taste of how glorious and yet still serious Helvellyn is and, I hope, a sense of why I love it here so much.
